Travis Kelce Puts Up With Taylor Swift’s Quirky Best Friend Bond

Taylor Swift admits her Napoleon Dynamite voice habit with best friend Abigail Anderson is something her husband Travis Kelce has to put up with.

Taylor Swift just dropped a truth bomb about her marriage that no one saw coming. She told a crowd on Sunday that her husband, Travis Kelce, has to live with a very specific, very loud quirk.

The pop star and her childhood best friend, Abigail Anderson, still speak to each other in the voices of the 2004 cult comedy Napoleon Dynamite. Swift admitted this habit is something her husband has to put up with, according to Heart. It is a small detail, but it shows just how deep her bond with Anderson really runs.

During a Q&A session for the animated film Toy Story 5, Swift discussed this friendship. According to Yahoo, she said the bond between the movie characters Bonnie and Blaze mirrors her own life, noting that it “resonates with me so much.” The pair met when Swift moved to Nashville at age 14.

She recalled being the new kid in school and wondering who to be friends with. Swift said, “When I moved to Nashville when I was 14, you know, you’re the new kid in school, and you’re like, ‘Who should I be friends with? These girls are cool, these girls are cool, these are nice girls,'” according to Yahoo.

The Voice That Stuck Around

Not every friend clicked for Swift that day, but one girl named Abigail did. Swift noted that Anderson has curly hair, just like the character Blaze. The two of them decided to talk in Napoleon Dynamite voices, and they never stopped.

“But there was one girl named Abigail — and she even has curly hair, too, like Blaze — and the two of us, all we wanted to do was talk in Napoleon Dynamite voices,” Swift said, per People. That is a lot of years of doing silly voices. It is a fun story, but it also means Kelce hears it all the time.

The singer described finding a friend who sees you for your “strange, little genre” as a powerful moment. She told the audience, “And so it’s like, you know, when you find that person who just completely sees you for the strange, little genre that is you at your purest, that hit me so hard watching the film,” according to Yahoo.

This bond is so strong that it has survived decades of fame and a high-profile marriage to an NFL star. Swift even added, “And we still do this – and it’s something our husbands have to put up with,” per Heart.

A Bond Bigger Than Football

It is rare to see a sports spouse talk so openly about a non-sports friendship. Swift did not shy away from the fact that her husband has to deal with this routine.

She said, “I’d love to pile on to what Andrew was saying about finding someone who’s the same genre as weird and silly as you are and just why Bonnie and Blaze’s story resonated with me so much.” This is not just a cute anecdote from a movie screening. It is a window into how Swift handles her life.
